Please pray for Mousie. She is very unwell.
This is the email I have received from her owners*:
I am very sorry to tell you that Mousie is not very well.
On Sunday, she stopped eating and drinking, was very lethargic, and was vomiting white foam. We took her to the vet, who took blood tests, and kept her in for rehydration.
We got the blood tests back today. She has got hyperthyroidism. It may have already affected her liver and kidneys, but we don't know yet. (She is much perkier today.)
She has got Zantac to help her tummy, and pills for her thyroid, which she has to have twice a day, mashed up in her food. We are currently syringing her food into her mouth, but hopefully in the next couple of days, she will recover enough to start eating by herself.
She will be on this regime for two weeks, when we'll see if she's improving. If she is, then she'll carry on with the treatment for another two weeks. If she isn't improving, then the vet recommends that we discontinue treatment and have her put to sleep.
If you'd like to visit her, then you are very very welcome - I know how much you love her and how much she loves you. She's not on any special food, but we are warming her normal food up with hot water and her pills.
The vet nurse said she was the sweetest cat they'd had in for ages.
*a few of you will be aware that Mousie is not strictly mine, I babysit her when her beans go away. I have been looking after her for almost 14(!) years. I will be going to visit her tomorrow, and every day or eve that I can. Please pray.

Sending purrs.
We are sending healing purrs to Mousie and hope she makes a recovery. Socks has hyperthyroidism. Luckily he doesn't have any heart, liver or kidney damage. He couldn't take the pills so has to eat the y/d cat food. But the pills really seemed to keep the thyroid in check when he was taking them. Healing purrs and <3 to Mousie. ~Socks & Family

Mousie, we are sending you lots of purrs and love to help you through this. Don't despair, thyroid medicine can take a while to get going and sometimes surgery is easier once it is controlled. Hope you feel better very soon

We're purring and purraying hard for her. The thyroid meds can be compounded into a transdermal gel and rubbed into the ears. There are two kinds of bases to the gel, though, an older one and a newer one. Depending on the cat, she can have a reaction (blistering) to one or the other, but the newer one has less chance of that, we believe. (Went through this with Angel Annie, had trouble with the gel base until it was sorted out.)
We hope it's not too late for her, and purray that whatever happens, it's for her Highest Good.
Peace and Blessings.
We will get our circle of purrs going for sweet Mousie. We know of many kitties who have this and respond very well to medicine. Hopefully she will be fine with only a bit of medication to keep the thyroid stable

PS - the last comment was from Perfectly Parker's Mom...
Good luck to Mousie; I'll be thinking of her. My cat, Tungsten, has hyperthyroidism, and has for a couple of years. She receives two doses of Methimazole a day; I rub them inside her ears. You may want to check into that as it is much easier - for both human and cat - than giving anything orally. The best of luck to Mousie!
Hey everyone,
Thanks so much for the support! It's 2:15am here in London and I'm exhausted. I had 5 hrs sleep last night and have been on the go all day.
I spent 4 hours with her this afternoon and she is so bony. However, her strength is improving. She just won't eat. Her owners feed her kitten food with a syringe, which she hates. I am so worried, but will have to hope for the best. I want her to be comfortable but she looks so forlorn.
I will visit with her tomorrow.
Rosie
Sending lot´s of (((purrs)))

Tell Miss Mousie we are purring and purraying really really hard.
Love & Purrs,
ML & Kitties
She will need to have thyroid medicine the rest of her life to keep her thyroid levels in check. Please don't give up after several weeks. My cat had hyperthyroidism and the trans-dermal gel rubbed in her ear each day kept her levels great for 4 years. But if you stop...the thyroid levels get bad again. It's continuous medicine really.
